About The Club
In 1998, Mark Walters conducted Supervisor Training
Courses. During these courses, Mark noticed that 98% of the Supervisors
were intimidated when they had to get up and speak in front of a group. He
was familiar with Toastmasters and suggested that these Supervisors should
attend to help them get over their fear of public speaking.
There wasn't a Toastmaster Club in the area, so with the approval from
Chris Hogarth, to fund the club memberships, Mark contacted Patrick Dunne,
President of Cabot Toastmasters. Pat informed Mark that they needed a
minimum of 20 members to start a club. Together with Eugene Grumer and
Larry Smith, Mark was able to have Cabot Toastmasters Club come out from
St.John's for five sessions, Thus, North Atlantic Toastmasters was formed.
The response was good in the beginning and some of the Supervisors did
attend.

"The rung of a ladder was never meant to rest upon, but only hold
a man's foot long enough to enable him to put the other foot somewhat
higher."
